What is the PSAT?
Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT) is taken before the SAT and hence, it gives the students an idea of what they will face on the SAT test. It is estimated that approximately 3.5 million students take this test every year.
Most people like to call PSAT as the practice version of the SAT exam, which it is but it also helps students qualify for the National Merit Scholarships. PSAT is also known as PSAT/NMSQT.
PSAT has the same structure as the SAT and thus has the same number of sections: Reading, Writing and Language, and Math. There is no essay section on the PSAT and there is also no negative marking, just like SAT.
