General rule for rounding:
Rounding is kind of estimating it means making a number simpler but keeping its value close to what it was. When rounding a number, first we need know: what are we rounding it to? Numbers can be rounded to the nearest ten, the nearest hundred, the nearest thousand, and so on. Find your rounding digit and then look at the number right to it.
- If the number you are rounding is followed by a number 5 or greater than 5 that is 6, 7, 8, or 9, round the number up that is add one to the “rounding digit” and change all digits to the right of the rounding digit to zero.
- If the number you are rounding is followed by a number less than 5 that is 0,1,2,3,4 round the number down that is do not change the “rounding digit” but change all digits to the right of the “rounding digit” to zero.
